Louis Koo In Paris

Louis at the Louve is from his photoook, Black & White. I used Photoshop CS5's content aware, the clone tool and copy & paste/merge to rebuild the photo's center. I then imported the image into PhotoTools 2.5 to add the effects. PhotoTools's Monet filter is the predominant effect used to add color and texture to the sky and buliding. Font: Cezanne. (All rights to the image remain with Louis and his publisher.)

Roger in Pool

In order to rebuild the upper left corner of the image, I had to copy part of the image below (on the right) to mask out the finger. Editing was done in Photoshop CS5 using multiple layers, layer masks, content aware scale, warp/perspective, cloning and layer adjustments. It was challenging, but well worth the effort, and I think the parents were pleased with the final result.

Photo One with finger blur. Photo Two used to provide upper left detail for finished photo.

Jin Temple (Jingaksa) from the SBS drama Seo Dong Yo

before

Jingaksa Temple, from the SBS Korean drama Seo Dong Yo. The final result can be seen on the Seo Dong Yo Myth & Magic page in the “Faith” section. I used the new content aware feature in Photoshop CS5 and the spot healing brush to remove the tree trunk. A little touch-up with the clone and patch tools were needed to normalize the foreground.  I then removed the SBS logo from the upper right and enhanced the sky with a fill layer and cloud brush; the overall image was enhanced with levels and curves.

Balclutha moored at Hyde Street Pier, with Alcatraz Island in background

before
after

This photo of Balclutha, a 256 foot square-rigged ship moored at Hyde Street Pier, San Francisco Maritime National Park, is located at the western end of Fisherman's Wharf. Alcatraz Island is in the background. I used the new content aware tool in Photoshop CS5 to removed the guy strolling on the beach. The overall appearance was brightened up with levels and curves, then unsharp mask was applied to bring out more detail in the background. (Photoshop CS5, Olympus SP 800UZ)

White Flowers (Daisy)

before
after

This photo was taken with an Olympus SP 800UZ, 14 Megapixel digital camera. This was my first attempt at using the camera, and focusing was a bit tricky, but with time I'll learn its secrets. Photoshop gave life to this otherwise dull image. (Photoshop CS2, Olympus SP 800UZ)

This publicity photo of Jang Dong Gun and Jeong Jun Ho promoting the Korean film, The Anarchists, was enhanced with curves, levels, color balance and pattern overlay, along with painting to add skin tones to Jang and Jeong. (Photoshop CS2)

Jo Hyun Jae

before
after

To enhance this image of Jo Hyun Jae, I copied selections of the image and used layer masks and pattern overlay to create the background, border and shirt detail, then used color balance, levels and curves to further enhance the image. (Photoshop CS2)

Jo Hyun Jae, study in blue. Although this is an older image I've always liked the eyes effect. The image was enhanced with a pattern fill on the eyes and hue and saturation on the lips. (Photoshop CS2, 2006)

Sophia

Pretty kitty sitting in a ray of sunshine. I did a tight crop on Sophia to eliminate the background, then got a bit carried away with filters and effects. (Photoshop CS2, Sony Cyber-shot 3.2 Megapixel)

Tamino

Tamino's blue eyes were the inspiration for this image. A combination of filters, layer effects and layer styles were used to achieve this result. (Photoshop CS2, Sony Cyber-shot 3.2 Megapixel)

Me

This image was taken at Garland Ranch Regional Park in Carmel Valley, CA. The day was sunny, with a breeze and slight chill in the air, the perfect way to escape the Monterey Peninsula's dreary summer fog. A combination of filters, effects, layer styles and color adjustment were used to achieve this effect. (Photoshop CS2. Sony Cyber-shot 3.2 Megapixel)
